Overview

What is the Concrete Tunnel Formwork and Scaffolding Paints Group?

Tunnel formwork and scaffolding paints are protective coatings developed to shield steel formwork and scaffolding components from corrosion. These elements are constantly moved around on construction sites and exposed to concrete, release oil, water and impact. By delaying rust on the outer faces of formwork, scaffold tubes, standards and couplers, they extend the service life of the equipment.

The group includes fast-drying synthetic (alkyd) anti-rust paints, highly abrasion-resistant epoxy-based systems and practical direct-to-metal products that act as primer and topcoat in one. They can be supplied in corporate colours or in vivid shades such as yellow, red, blue and orange that make equipment easy to identify on site.

Key Features

  • Fast drying for a quick return to service
  • Protection against rust and corrosion
  • Impact- and abrasion-resistant film
  • Resistance to release oil and water
  • Vivid colour options that stand out on site
  • Fast airless spray application on large surfaces
System Structure

Protection layer by layer

01

Surface Cleaning

Concrete residue, release oil, loose rust and old paint are removed from formwork and scaffolding surfaces.

02

Anti-Rust Primer

A fast-drying primer that forms the first layer of corrosion protection on steel. In some products, primer and topcoat are combined in one.

03

Protective Topcoat

A coloured topcoat resistant to impact, abrasion and weather that makes equipment easy to recognise on site.

Areas of Use

Where is it used?

Steel tunnel formwork
Wall, column and slab formwork
Facade and ceiling scaffolding
Scaffold tubes, standards and couplers
Site containers and steel equipment
Formwork transport and stacking racks
Surface Preparation

The right start, a long life

  1. 01

Concrete residue on formwork and scaffolding should be removed by scraping or brushing.

  2. 02

Release oil and grease residues should be fully removed with a suitable degreaser.

  3. 03

Loose rust should be removed with a wire brush or scraper; the surface must be dry and dust-free.

Application Notes

What to watch out for during application

  1. 01

Stir the paint thoroughly before use and, if necessary, adjust to application viscosity with the recommended thinner.

  2. 02

Do not apply outdoors in rainy, very humid or frosty weather.

  3. 03

If release oil is to be used on the concrete-facing side of the formwork, follow the recommendations in the product's technical data sheet.

Mixing ratio, pot life and recoat intervals vary by product; the product's technical data sheet should always be used for exact values.
